Sand Gives Park Riverwalk Ocean Feel
Beach babies bring your buckets, blankets and best sand castle tools. What started as a “let’s see if it works” idea has become a huge success at Regatta...the trucking in of 40 tons of sand to create a coastline rivaling your favorite beach destination.
Our temporary seashore transforms the Park’s permanent concrete walkway along the Allegheny River steps into a sandy, sink-your-feet-into relax and play area roughly 15 feet wide and 200 feet long.
And, thanks to AAA Travel, the “Travel to the Beach” Kids Korner provides the atmosphere and acessories to complete the effect including: sand toys, sea shells, some tropical greenery to simulate that southern seascape. Of course, you’re welcome to bring your own sunbrella and chairs to lay back, chill and catch some rays at leisure.

Shore To Please—Regatta Beach is one of only two makeshift inner city beaches in the world. The other is along the banks of the Siene River in Paris.
