WPXI–Channel 11 will broadcast the EQT "Flashes of Freedom" Fireworks Fantasia "live," along with a simulcast of the production on radio by KDKA-1020.
Last year, it was fireworks with lasers that bedazzled and awed an appreciative crowd in Pittsburgh that, unlike any city in the country, loves its fireworks year-round. This year, the notch on the bar moves a level higher, as EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta proudly welcomes another one of its hometown "Princes of Pyro," New Castle based Pyrotecnico.
2008 winner of the International Fireworks Competition in Montreal, Canada [considered the "Olympics" of the fireworks industry], Pyrotecnico captured the Gold Jupiter trophy last summer cementing its status as reigning, world, fireworks show champion.
A version of that award-winning show, titled "Rock Loves," will light up and ring loud over the Golden Triangle July 4 in an unbelievable showcase of pyro pageantry, choreography and illumination wizardry. The show’s theatrical glory and "wow" factor will get its energy from the company’s years of perfecting and fine-tuning its distinct firing mechanics and artistry—rooted in European style—that uses multiple shot sites, framed by angled racks and custom trusses to dramatically accentuate light, sound and explosion intensity. Show designers also cleverly combine aerial shells with low-level and nautical shells to vividly elevate a display’s effects.
Pyrotecnico is also an innovator in using custom platforms to fire its shows. During its winning Montreal performance, the company mounted and fired hundreds of pyrotechnics from various sized "arched trusses" overwhelming competitors and stunning spectators with its radiance.
